Buddhism 101
Tuesday evening, February 26, at 7:00 PM
Merry Room, Lower Level.
Reverend Catherine Cullen, minister at First Parish Church, Duxbury will speak on Buddhism. Rev. Cullen is a Unitarian minister and a practicing Buddhist in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. She will give an overview of the Buddhist philosophy, how it relates to our western culture, and how author Mark Salzman presented Buddhism in The Soloist .
People who are reading The Soloist will want to discover if the book provided a true look at the philosophy and its followers; those who haven't read it yet will be fascinated by this discussion of two seemingly divergent cultures. Rev. Cullen is a former criminal attorney and can add some insight into the book's jury trial of a Buddhist.
Free tickets to this event will be available at the library beginning on Tuesday February 12.
