American Poetry Review Online version of the American Poetry Review. This publication, dedicated to breathing life into contemporary poetry, is a great source for new and provocative poetry. Back issues available.
Bartleby.com Extensive, free, searchable literary database drawing on authoritative resources such as Roget's, Bartlett's, Brewer's and Oxford. Verse page quite suitable for those interested in classic American and English verse.
Favorite Poem Project Robert Pinsky, 39th poet laureate of the United States, launched this site as part of his national Favorite Poem Project. Encourages teachers, librarians and all citizens to host poetry events to submit favorite poems for publication.
Poetry & Literature Center of the Library of Congress Supports activities and interests of the national poet laureate considered by the center to be the "nation's official lightening rod for the poetic impulse of Americans." Provides everything you need to know about the role and history of the laureate as well as biographical information and works of the reigning poet. Link to current laureate, Billy Collins' Poetry 180, a project encouraging students to experience a new poem for each day they are in school.
