3 formats of eBooks are available: Kindle, Adobe ePub and Adobe PDF
Kindle
Adobe ePub
Adobe eBook (PDF)
  • Titles with the Kindle Icon may only be downloaded to a Kindle or Kindle enabled device.
    Must have Amazon account
  • Windows, Mac compatibles and most tablets using Adobe Digital Editions AND many eReaders such as Android, Apple and Blackberry devices using Overdrive Media Console v2 (or newer)
  • Windows and Mac compatible AND some eReaders using Adobe Digital editions and Adobe Flash Player
  • Kindle Cloud Reader enables most devices to accept Kindle format titles.
  • Many smartphones have a free downloadable Overdrive App that formats ePub books for the device.
  • Text does not adjust to fit the screen

What is the difference?
  • Kindle eBooks can only be downloaded to a Kindle or device enabled by Kindle Cloud Reader.
  • More Adobe PDF books are available, but fewer devices support format. Adobe PDF books do not reformat to the specific window size of the device which sometimes means a lot of scrolling.
  • Adobe ePub books do reformat to the specific device..
  • Adobe PDF books can be returned early while ePub books stay on your device for the full two weeks.
